Date Night At The Supermarket

We made it through another week
It's Friday night
So, what are you dreaming we might do tonight?
The whole city's in our sights

Very little in our wallets and a lot of debt
So, I can't promise an evening you'll never forget
Like we had when we first met, no
No

I don't wanna bring us down to our knees
But you know we're lacking bare necessities, oh

Date night at the supermarket
Here we are, never been so bored
Late night at the deli counter
What've they got that we can afford?
Once upon a time when we got started
We would never have dreamed of coming here
It's the beginning of the end, I fear

Now there's a broken jar of pickles on aisle ten
So we listen to another clean-up call again
All the excitement we're gonna get

As we're picking our way through the clearance food
I start to wonder if you'd ever wanna get our vows renewed
I sense you're really not in the mood, no

And it's killing us both, everything we had
'Cause we saw this happen to our mum and dad, oh

Date night at the supermarket
Here we are, never been so bored
Late night at the deli counter
What've they got that we can afford?
Once upon a time when we got started
We would never have dreamed of coming here
It's the beginning of the end, I fear

And I wonder what we even want anymore
We might as well talk to the wall
We never get much further than the mundane
Think we're heading for a fall
If none of this means a thing at all, oh

Date night at the supermarket
Here we are, never been so bored
Late night at the deli counter
What've they got that we can afford?
Once upon a time when we got started
We would never have dreamed of coming here
It's the beginning of the end, I fear

Date night at the supermarket
Here we are, never been so bored
Late night at the deli counter
What've they got that we can afford?
Once upon a time when we got started
We would never have dreamed of coming here
And I think that surely now the end is near
Right here
