Looking For The Upside

I'm here looking for the upside
I'm certain there must have been one before, yeah
I'm here looking for the upside, upside
It doesn't seem to be around anymore, no
I'm here looking for the upside
Without it, what are we doing this for?
All I see are signs pointing south to the downside
And I don't wanna be down there anymore

I didn't open your journal
OK, well, maybe but I needed to know
If we were looking eternal
Or in urgent need of somewhere new to go
I had to wonder, were you only stringing me along?
Oh, I'm not waiting a lifetime
Just to find out if you're thinking we'll be lifelong

I'm here looking for the upside
I'm certain there must have been one before, yeah
I'm here looking for the upside, upside
It doesn't seem to be around anymore, no
I'm here looking for the upside
Without it, what are we doing this for?
All I see are signs pointing south to the downside
And I don't wanna be down there anymore

If you want us to stay together
You ought to know I can't argue forever
You don't know how to leave me alone
I'm pretty good at criticising myself on my own
I don't need to hear in my ear when I get home, no

I'm here looking for the upside
I'm certain there must have been one before, yeah
I'm here looking for the upside, upside
It doesn't seem to be around anymore, no
I'm here looking for the upside
Without it, what are we doing this for?
All I see are signs pointing south to the downside
And I don't wanna be down there anymore

La la la la la la la la
I'm here looking for the upside
'Cause I don't want be on the downside anymore
